Sādhanā and Svādhyāya Teacher/Practitioner Mentorship Program with VikramJeet Singh

This 6 week teacher mentorship program is designed to help you take your personal practice and teaching beyond the asana. We will be diving into deepening one's own sādhana as a potent tool for expanding one's teaching, combined with powerful self reflection and self study. In addition, this mentorship will explore some of the classic Yogic texts, and how we can incorporate these teachings on and off the mat. 

Each week will meet via zoom for a 2.5 hour lecture + Q&A session. In addition there will be accompanying embodiment and reflection questions for you to do on your own throughout the week. 

Week 1: History of Yoga & Āsana

In this module we will trace the evolution of yoga from its earliest roots and origins to its place in the world today. The emphasis will be to provide a brief introduction to some complementary practices, traditions and lineages that have helped shape the course of this evolution and are still very much a part of the modern yoga landscape.

 

Week 2: Foundational Teachings of the Yoga Sutra

In this module we will be covering salient sutras from chapters 1 and 2 to help you understand the essence of the Sutras and translate that essence, and key concepts within your own practice and teaching. What you will learn will give you the confidence to conduct small workshops or discussions on the Yoga Sutras within your community.

 

Week 3: Yoga’s of the Bhagavad Gita

In this module we will be covering a brief introduction to the Gita, and going deeper into the many forms of Yoga presented in this text. From Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, to Karma Yoga we will discover how to practice and teach these in a modern context, and how to embody them in our daily lives.


Week 4: Self Care & Maintaining Personal Practice

In this module we will be covering the importance of self care, and committing to one's own practice. We will be diving into the concept of Dinacharya - daily ritual from Ayurveda, and helping you to create simple daily rituals to support your health and wellness. As well as covering the importance of personal practice and Sādhanā as a core pillar of teaching.

 

Week 5: Meditation + Pranayama

In this module we will look at a brief history of pranayama and meditation. We will learn some basic pranayama and meditation techniques for both personal use, and teaching. You will come away with an understanding of how to use these practices for yourself and others.

 

Week 6: Cultural Appropriation, Diversity and Inclusion

In this module we will understand the importance of honoring Yogas roots, and come to a clear understanding of what cultural appropriation is, and isn’t. We will discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion within our classes, and how to create a safe space for all students.
